Our mission is to ensure that every child has access to early vision and developmental screenings, before delays begin to impact their learning, confidence, and future.
Through free monthly screening days, we provide a safe, supportive environment where children can be evaluated early and families can be connected to the care they need—without barriers.
Because every child deserves the chance to be seen, supported, and set up for success.
Lincoln’s Story Foundation is a legally incorporated nonprofit organization in the State of Michigan, officially approved through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Lincoln’s Story Foundation has received tax exemption status through Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c)(3) as a public charity.

Lincoln’s Story Foundation began with one moment—a routine vision screening that changed everything.
When multiple children in her care, including her own son, were flagged for vision concerns, founder Kaitlyn King realized how many children are being missed during the most important years of development.
Now, the mission is simple but urgent: provide early, accessible vision screenings and ensure no child enters school already behind due to an undetected vision issue.
Because seeing clearly shouldn’t be a privilege—it should be a given.

As the Director of Finance, she brings both professional insight and personal passion to the mission behind Lincoln’s Story Foundation.
A dedicated school professional and mother of four , her perspective is deeply rooted in both education and real-life parenting experiences. She is the proud mom of Christopher, Bradley, Nathan, and Madeline.
Her journey into advocating for early vision awareness began at home. She noticed her son Christopher standing unusually close to the television—something that didn’t initially raise alarm, but lingered in the back of her mind. Soon after, her son Nathan failed a routine eye exam at school. That moment prompted her to take a closer look.
When she brought both boys in for full eye exams, the results were eye-opening—Christopher also needed glasses. Like many parents, she had no idea there was an issue.
That experience became a turning point.
Now, she uses both her financial expertise from Lupa & Sons and personal story to support the foundation’s mission—helping ensure that other families don’t miss the early signs of vision challenges. Her work helps make early screenings more accessible, so children can receive the support they need before it impacts their learning, confidence, and development.

Kayla brings a strong background in legal studies along with a grounded, compassionate presence to everything she does. She earned her Associate of Business in Paralegal Studies in 2017 and her Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies in 2019 from Baker College, and completed her Juris Doctor at Cooley Law School in 2025.
Outside of her professional achievements, Kayla is a proud dog mom, wife, and avid animal lover who enjoys dog sitting, camping, traveling, and getting lost in a good book. She values connection, exploration, and creating meaningful experiences both in her personal life and within the community.
Although she is not a parent herself, Kayla brings a unique and personal perspective to the importance of early care. After being diagnosed with an astigmatism later in high school, she realized that symptoms she had experienced for years—tired eyes, blurred vision, difficulty seeing at a distance, especially at night or in the rain—were not “normal” after all.
That experience has shaped her understanding of how easily vision concerns can go unnoticed in children and reinforces her passion for supporting early awareness and access to care.

Jodie serves as the Director of Medical Partnerships for the Lincoln Story Foundation, where she plays a vital role in building relationships with eye care professionals and supporting the foundation’s mission to expand access to early vision screenings for children.
As a mom of two, Jodie brings both personal and professional insight to her work. Vision care is something close to her heart—she wears glasses herself, and her brother also relies on corrective lenses, giving her a firsthand understanding of how important early detection and support can be for families.
Jodie previously worked for an ophthalmologist, where she gained valuable experience in the field of ophthalmology. Through this role, she developed a strong understanding of eye health, patient care, and the importance of early intervention—knowledge she now uses to help guide the foundation’s medical outreach and partnerships.
Her unique combination of lived experience, clinical exposure, and compassionate approach makes her an essential part of the Lincoln Story Foundation’s mission to ensure that every child has the opportunity for healthy vision and a strong start.
