At Just Like Home Family Daycare, nutrition is a core part of how we care for children.
We believe that consistent access to balanced, nourishing meals supports not only physical growth, but also focus, behavior, and learning. Research in early childhood nutrition shows that children who receive regular, nutrient-rich meals demonstrate improved cognitive development, attention, and overall well-being.
That’s why we proudly provide all meals and beverages at no cost to families in our care.
🍽️ What We Provide Daily

Each child receives:
Breakfast Lunch Dinner Two snacks Milk and water throughout the day
Meals are planned to be balanced, satisfying, and appropriate for growing children.
🥦 Fresh, Balanced Ingredients

We prioritize simple, whole foods and consistent nutrition.
Children are served:
Fresh or frozen vegetables daily Fresh or frozen fruit daily A variety of proteins, grains, and dairy
Using both fresh and frozen options allows us to provide nutritionally complete meals year-round, as frozen fruits and vegetables are often preserved at peak ripeness and retain essential nutrients.
p.s. Ms Kaitlyn loves to bake Homemade Bread
🥛 Age-Appropriate Beverages

We follow recommended guidelines for children’s nutrition by providing:
Fat-free, low-fat, or whole milk, depending on each child’s age Filtered water available at all times
Hydration and proper nutrition are supported consistently throughout the day.
Thoughtful Food Preparation

The way food is prepared matters.
Meals are prepared fresh the same day The microwave is never used If reheating is needed, food is warmed in glass containers in the oven
This approach helps maintain food quality and aligns with best practices for minimizing exposure to unnecessary additives or materials during heating.
🍴 Safe & Intentional Serving Practices

We are intentional about how food is served.
Older children use stainless steel cutlery, plates, bowls, and cups Snacks are served on uncoated paper plates or food-grade deli-safe paper with colorful prints
These choices reduce exposure to unnecessary coatings and create a clean, safe, and engaging mealtime experience.
Allergy Awareness & Safety

Children’s safety is always a top priority.
We:
Respect and carefully manage all food allergies Follow parent guidance and medical recommendations Take precautions to avoid cross-contact
Families can feel confident that their child’s dietary needs are understood and supported.
💛 Removing Barriers for Families

For many families, providing multiple meals each day can be a challenge.
By offering all meals, snacks, and beverages at no cost, we help ensure that every child:
Has consistent access to food Arrives ready to learn and play Is supported throughout the entire day
Nourishing the Whole Child

Mealtime at our daycare is more than just eating — it’s a time for:
Social interaction Building independence Learning healthy habits
Children are encouraged to explore foods, practice self-feeding skills, and develop a positive relationship with eating in a supportive environment.
