The Saturday Project

Big Art. Messy Play. Saturday Mornings Made for Kids.

The Saturday Project is a small-group, creative experience hosted by Just Like Home Family Daycare.

Instead of traditional art classes focused on instructions and finished products, children are given the space, materials, and freedom to explore the process of creating with paint in six different ways.

We’ll splatter it, roll it, drop it, smash it, swipe it—and probably get a little messy along the way.

No perfect projects. No pressure to make it “right.” Just three hours of creating, exploring, eating, playing, and having fun.

Our First Project: 6 Saturdays of Process Art

This fall, The Saturday Project is kicking off with six different process-art experiences designed especially for preschool and early-childhood learners.

Each Saturday features a different large-scale, hands-on way to create.

Children might paint with unexpected tools, experiment with movement and color, work on giant collaborative surfaces, or discover what happens when we stop telling them how art is supposed to look.

Time: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

What’s Included?

Your registration is all-inclusive!

Each Saturday includes:

● Protective art poncho (to remain on site & during each class)

● All art materials and supplies

● A different process-art experience

● Pizza lunch

● Three hours of care

● Small-group environment

● Plenty of time for creative exploration and play

Please send your child in clothing and shoes that can get messy. While we’ll provide art ponchos, process art has a way of finding the places ponchos don’t cover!

Designed With Different Learners in Mind

The Saturday Project is neurodivergent learner friendly.

Learners will work together to create large-scale collaborative works of art on reusable canvas. Depending on the project, canvases may be suspended for vertical creating or placed on the ground so children can paint, move, explore, and create from different positions.

Our goal is to complete our projects outdoors whenever possible, giving children plenty of room to move and allowing us to fully embrace the wonderfully messy nature of process art.

As the weather gets colder, children may wear their art ponchos over weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and gear. When weather conditions make outdoor art impractical or uncomfortable, the experience will be moved indoors.

The focus is not on everyone creating the same finished product. It’s about exploration, movement, sensory experiences, collaboration, and the process of creating together.

We recognize that children experience sensory input, transitions, communication, movement, and group activities differently.

Children are encouraged to participate in ways that work for them while being supported within our small-group environment.

Before You Register

The Saturday Project is designed as a drop-off experience. Children will remain on-site for the three-hour program and should be comfortable separating from their caregiver.

Because we intentionally keep the group small, registration is required for each participating child.

Parents will complete required enrollment/contact information, emergency information, allergy and dietary information, and authorized pickup information before their child’s first Saturday.
